I Am No Longer On Lease

Have you ever heard of the term "lease system"? I hadn't until recently. In prison systems there was a program called "lease system" and this is where prisoners were leased out to local businesses to work on bridges, construction, mining etc. They were responsible for feeding them, housing and discipling. This idea of leasing got me to thinking about myself and my own junk. In years past I was stuck in my denial and it did so much to keep me from so many blessings in my life. In essence, by living in denial and acting like the 'stuff' wasn't there, I was allowing this to master my life. I was allowing myself to go into the enemies 'lease system'. This lessor was feeding me and giving me housing alright but man was it the wrong and unhealthy stuff. 2 Peter 2:19 reads, "They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity–for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him." When I bury my head in the sand and convince myself there is nothing wrong, it not only keeps me in my pain but also keeps me a slave 'on lease' to the enemy. A dead man walking.... Someone once said, “Many people—of all ages—are walking around alive, but that in no way does this mean they are truly living" This morning we don't have to be dead men and women walking. No more being slaves to our past, present or fears of our future. If you still trying to convince yourself that there is nothing wrong? Are you finding yourself on lease to an enemy that seeks to destroy your life? Let me encourage you to break that lease and run from that 'lessor' and into the arms of the Father who has bought you with the blood that was shed for us. Time to start building new bridges and roads toward life change as we follow the Father. Have a great Saturday! Rodney Holmstrom
