Touching the Hem of Jesus’ Robe

Image
By Kareena Holloway, Fellowship Bible Church, Rogers, Celebrate Recovery TEAM Women's Encourager Coach “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed”. The story is told in Luke chapter 8 and also in Matthew 9.   The woman had been hemorrhaging for twelve years and had spent all of her money trying to find a cure to no avail.   When she saw Jesus, she knew without a doubt that he was the one who could help her. She found her way through the huge crowd gathering around him , and upon touching the hem of his garment, her bleeding ceased! In the middle of this swarming crowd, Jesus noticed he had been touched. When He asked who had touched Him, His question returned with no answer. The woman she knew she could not hide from Him and admitted that it was her.   Read with me: “ When the woman realized that she couldn’t remain hidden,” Luke tells us, “she knelt trembling before him. In front of all the people, she blurted out her story—why she touched him and ho

Doubt Not

By  Eric Hutchinson, Fellowship Bible Church Rogers,  Celebrate Recovery Training Coach 4/22/20 To be completely honest, things have been a little rough financially for me these past few months. I am in sales, and because of the quarantining and fear of Covid-19 people are not buying and selling. The enemy has filled my mind with doubts and fears of, “What if?” What if I can’t pay my mortgage next month? What if I can’t pay my bills? What if I can’t provide food for my family? These are all valid concerns, and to be completely transparent, I have had doubts.   It reminded me of a man in the Bible who had doubts. We call him “Doubting Thomas.” I think he has received a little bit of a bad rap. I mean, Jesus had just been tortured and crucified! Thomas witnessed this first hand, and he was probably in fear of his own life because of his association with Jesus. He had seen Jesus perform many miracles and thought that Jesus would rise to power and establish God’s kingdom. Then, Jesu

Socially Distant, Not Socially Isolated

By Carl Kimbro, Fellowship Bible Church Rogers Celebrate Recovery Devotional Team writer, 4 /15/20 Social Distancing and being away from friends and people we care about isn’t easy. But what is easy (at least for me) is to focus on the negative and forget the positive. At first, I did a lot of complaining: The internet is overwhelmed with bad news, common core math is stupid, homeschooling isn’t for the faint of heart, and much more! More than anything, I missed my church family and time in worship. The longer that I stay at home, the more old habits become a temptation once again! “For where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am with them ”. Matthew 18:20 When I first heard about doing Zoom open shares with some of the other leaders or just zoom accountability partner meetings, I admit I wasn’t enthusiastic about it. There was no way in my mind that it would work or be a good replacement for face to face meetings. Let’s be clear, face to face is always better

Grief and Hope In the Waiting

By Kareena Holloway, Fellowship Bible Church, Rogers, Celebrate Recovery Women's Encourager Coach I woke up feeling sad today. I’m a generally upbeat person, an  encourager  by nature, but today, I woke up sad. Covid-19 and this  quarantine  has changed everyone’s lives. I can’t see my friends in  person, I  can’t hug others, I can’t circle up with others and pray in  person  with them. My overall schedule in ministry has changed,  so  today I  woke up feeling sad!  I am so grateful to God that  through Celebrate Recovery, I learned this neat way  to process my feelings, called doing a H.E.A.R.T Check, and it was  definitely  time  for me to do one again ! I’d like to share my answers with you now. I asked myself the following. Was I: · H URTING?           Yes, I was hurting emotionally because I miss everyone so much. · E XHAUSTED?           No, not really feeling exhausted · A NGRY?           Can I be angry at Covid-19? YES, I can!
