The News of Hope

Image
By Kareena Holloway, Fellowship Bible Church, Rogers, Celebrate Recovery Women's Encourager Coach “…And in the news today…” I don’t know about you, but I know that I’ve heard more than my fair share of bad news lately, but it got me thinking about God’s call on me, as a believer, to share the good news of the Bible! As I scroll through social media, it doesn’t take long before I realize that about 90% of what I’m seeing are posts of anxiousness and fear about the current news! What would be so amazing is if all believers turned around and began posting nothing but good news and encouragement from God’s Word. I could post my own testimony of how I’m using God’s Word to help with anxiety, or I could share encouragement for the masses to not give up no matter WHAT we face! The world sure could use some good news!! Give thanks to the Lord and pray to him. Tell the nations what he has done. Sing to him; sing praises to him. Tell about all his miracles. Be glad that you ar...

Leave Your Fears in God’s Hands

Image
By Carl Kimbro, Fellowship Bible Church Rogers Celebrate Recovery Devotional Team writer, 3 /25/20 Several days ago, the company I work for announced we would work from home due to the Coronavirus. Ok, no big deal. The internet connection isn’t great, but I can still get things done. Two days later, it was announced that the girls would be home from school as well. Suddenly, the prospect of getting any work done seemed impossible. We would all be using the less than perfect internet, and the drama/trauma from the girls having to “share” the Chrome Book for their schoolwork struck fear in my heart. No chance of it being a peaceful productive experience. Of course, it’s not real fear, but it got me thinking about the fear currently gripping our nation over the Coronavirus. People are terrified by the virus and are afraid of dying from it. I don’t want to get the virus, but I’m not living in fear of it. However, I have other fears: fear of failure, fear of not being the parent my gr...

God Is Always There!

Image
By  Eric Hutchinson, Fellowship Bible Church Rogers,  Celebrate Recovery Training Coach 3/18/20 Last November my daughter and I took a 3 day trip to Colorado to climb a mountain.  That’s right a mountain!! HA! My daughter had come to me 2 months prior and asked me if we could climb a mountain and I thought she just meant hiking around Northwest Arkansas or somewhere relatively close. She was quick to correct my thinking as she relayed that she meant a “real” mountain! Long story short, we climbed the highest mountain peak in Colorado which was Mount Elbert. We almost made it to the summit but not quite. Still, it was an incredible experience with my youngest daughter that I will never forget.   While up there on the mountain we felt like we could see the presence of God. The views were among the best I’ve ever seen and the crisp, cold, thin air just added to the surrealism we were feeling. There is a song that I have been lis...

Freedom and Victory in Surrender

Image
By Carl Kimbro, Fellowship Bible Church Rogers Celebrate Recovery Devotional Team writer, 3 /11/20 I love history, and I love studying World War II . Wars are fought for various reasons, but the goal is always the same…victory. No one goes to war hoping to surrender. In war, victory and surrender couldn’t be more opposite. Surrender is seen as weak, victory as strong. Surrender means failure, while victory is the sought-after prize. This definition of victory and surrender was what I brought with me into recovery. The idea of freedom and victory in surrender didn’t seem possible. How can submitting to anything bring freedom and victory? Human nature says don’t ask for help because that’s a sign of weakness. I got myself into this situation, so I need to get myself out, too. Besides, God wouldn’t help me even if I asked. He has heard me promise to quit living in my sin and seen me break my promises so often, He has probably given up on me. He’s waiting for me to get my act tog...

Can God Really Help Me in My Pain?

Image
By: Rodney Holmstrom Fellowship Bible Church Celebrate Recovery Pastor, 3/4/20 "Grain must be ground to make bread." Isaiah 8:28 If you look up the ecological term, "secondary succession" you will see this defined as "a process started by an event”, (e.g. forest fire or hurricane leading to polluted streams and/or flooded land). Many of us have experienced or are in the middle of experiencing some kind of tough 'event'. Are you experiencing a tough season right now? Are you feeling like God is absent in your pain? Maybe you’re thinking: "Can He really help me?” “Will He really come to my rescue?” “Will this misery in my life ever subside?” “Will I ever have hope again?” “Why is this happening?” Some of the most difficult times in my life have proven to be some of my biggest growing times in my faith. "The strongest trees are found not in the thick shelter of the forest, but out in the open, where winds from every direct...
