Transformed

What a beautiful day the Lord has made! Between the rain and the sunshine, our grass is growing so much and it’s been kind of difficult to keep up with keeping it trimmed. But an interesting thing has been happening around our house when it comes time to mow.

Our house is backed up to a cattle field where cows graze. We had our builder give us a 4 ft fence (instead of the standard 6 ft) so that we could get a better view of the cows and the field. It’s brought with it an unexpected bonus! When we mow our yard, Justin will throw the grass clippings behind the fence. I use to scorn him for this! “What if that creates mold?!” “What if that attracts BUGS!?” “Justin…. You KNOW those clippings will be a safe haven for snakes now.” Unlike Justin’s natural tendency to just go with the flow (flow = whatever the wife says), he, for whatever reason, didn’t listen, and it’s brought about an interesting situation. Somewhere along the way, the cows in the field have picked up on Justin’s habit! Funny enough, and I’m not kidding, when Justin turns on the mower it’s like a dinner bell!  Ya’ll…. when that mower comes on, the cows SPRINT to our back fence and try to get the best vantage point for the most grub, and man.  They lap it up!  What’s so fascinating to me is how God created our minds in the same way. To be transformed!  Their minds - these COW’S minds, mind you, have been transformed. Conditioned to respond to the sound of a mower! We have the same capabilities to condition our minds to run for sustenance when the “mower” starts up in our own lives. What HOPE that brings to me - that God has not left our mind to be stagnant, immobile, or unchangeable. He gives us the gift to condition ourselves to respond to situations in a virtuous way, running to Him for our every need.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."  Romans 12:2 NIV

I’m praying as you go about your week, that you would run to the God who will sustain you better than anything else on this earth. He is the ultimate satisfier of our deepest needs. I’m praying that you understand the depth of that love better as you transform your minds to remember His goodness towards you. You are truly blessed and I hope that it’s at the forefront of your minds this week. That Christ died to set you free from the trappings of this world and the same power he had to raise from the dead, he gave to you to become transformed into something new.
