Yes, Jesus loves me!

You are loved!
"God loves you!" How many times have we heard that and said: “That can’t be true for someone like me. Not after all the things I have done. How can God love me when I don’t love me”? Sound familiar? Why is it so hard to believe this truth of scripture?
Many times in our past we have been rejected, been told we don’t measure up, or told outright we were not wanted or loved. In a world filled with hurts habits and hang-ups, if told this often enough we will begin to believe it. It is easy to believe that we have no value when we “mess up” so often or so badly. And if others close to us don’t love us, or if we don’t love ourselves, can a perfect all powerful God love us? The answer is a resounding yes!
Isaiah gives us a vivid picture of God’s unmovable unchangeable love in Isaiah 54:10:
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord who has compassion on you”.
Health may leave us, friends and family might turn their backs on us, sin may overcome us, but God’s love will never leave us. His love is tall and strong like an unmovable mountain. And even if the earth sakes and the mountain fall away, His love will not be shaken or removed from us. We can take comfort in knowing God’s promises are never broken. He will rebuke and
correct us for our sins, but he will never give up on us and remove his love from us.
The ultimate proof of God’s love is Jesus. Romans 5:8 says:
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Would we willingly die in the place of another person? Would we exchange our child for the life of another person? That’s what God did. God loves us so much he let His Son die in our place. He traded the perfect life of His Son for that of sinners. Sometimes it is hard to wrap our minds around this truth of scripture. But it is the basis for our hope and our salvation found in God. There is no greater proof of His love for us than this.
God’s love is perfect and unchanging. It is unconditional and unearned. It is enduring, gracious, and everlasting. Lean on these truths and know that God does love us and He does care. We aren’t alone in our darkest moments. The God of the universe is there with us loving us always. It’s a promise we can count on
for eternity.
