Thankful for FREEDOM!

Those of you that know me, know I love to scream out, “FREEDOM!” whenever I get a chance. The reason for this is that I experienced freedom from pornography and the resentment from my divorce by going through this Celebrate Recovery program. However, that freedom only comes by closely attaching myself to Jesus Christ.
In Jesus’ day, when a slave was given his freedom he was given the option to become a bond-slave. What’s a bond-slave? Well, it’s when a slave who has been freed, voluntarily decides to become a slave again to the very same master who freed him. Isn’t that what we do? I am freed from my hurts, habits, and hang-ups only when I am willing to consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control (Principle 3).
I love Beth Moore’s quote below which says that I can only have freedom from sin when I attach myself to Christ. I am a bond-slave. I choose to attach myself to Christ as He frees me from my hurts habits and hang-ups. I recently experienced this realization again as I am currently working my recovery in my bad habit of overeating. I can’t free myself from this bad habit but as I surrender it to Christ I can and will be free from it. Jesus puts it this way,
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:29-30
“It is for Freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then,
and do not let yourselves be burdened again
by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
I hope this email finds you walking in His freedom. If not, reattach yourself to Jesus, his yoke is easy and his burden is light. Have a blessed day my friend!
“Remember, we never find freedom from bondage in independence. We find it by taking the same handcuffs that once bound us to sin and binding ourselves to the wrist of Christ.”
Beth Moore
