Watch...

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. - Frank Outlaw

  1. Gail McConnell: As I run with delight to the Word (Jesus) each morning (like a child runs to her Father)and sit with Him and meditate on Truth (not on my word and not on the words of other people, but on the Word),there is an amazing miracle that has taken place (and continues to take place) in my heart and mind over a progressive season of Heaven anointed time. The miracle is that I become progressively more acquainted with Him; in that intimacy, the Word lives in me and shapes my character in holy thought, holy word, and holy deed.

How can this be one might ask? It just is. It is not logical. My part? To watch for and to expect the Word and its Truth-based thinking that renews my mind to live in me and do to me and through me that which is impossible in my own power. Today I live my Christ-centered Life with intention. My intention is to believe that I will rest in the Lord and that He will flow in me and through me moment to moment. It is a spiritual practice of learning to be quiet no matter what is going on in the moment: while driving, working, watching a movie, playing with my granddaughters, leading a group on Friday night at CR, writing books, or hearing His Word being preached during corporate worship.

It is as God said in Deuteronomy 30:14: "But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your mind and in your heart, so that you can do it." As I draw near to God, He draws near to me. As I think on Him versus on me, on others, or on circumstances, my thoughts become transformed by the mystery of His invasion. Without any logical way to understand how it happens, God writes His Word (the Truth) on my heart and puts it in my mind and in my mouth. This is a reality for me. Lest anyone think I am boasting on my own standards, let me assure you that the only One on Whom I boast is Jesus Christ and the Cross. I do not boast on my own miracle; rather I boast about THE MIRACLE which is ready to be born in all who come to the well of Life, Jesus Christ, and believe they will receive what God says is so. Just as I am a saint now because He says so, not because I earn it or always act like it, so also I have the Word near me because He says so and if He says so, He will make it to be appropriated in me according to His Way, His Timing, and His Will.

I am as the child in Psalm 119: 145-149, 154 who cried out to the Lord when there seemed to be no hope...when trouble and anguish took hold on me and when my foes were more than this body could bear: "I cried with my whole heart, hear me O Lord; I will keep Your statutes (I will hear, receive, love, and obey them). I cried to You; save me, that I may keep Your testimonies (hearing, receiving, loving and obeying them). I anticipated the dawning of the morning and cried (in childlike prayer); I hoped in your word. My eyes anticiapte the night watches and I am awake before the cry of the watchman, that I may meditate on Your Word. Hear my voice according to Your steadfastlove; O Lord, quicken me and give me life according to Your (righteous) decrees...plead my cause and redeem me; revive me and give me life according to Your word." Today I boast that the Lord has answered me as He promised He would. He has quickened me and has given me life according to His righteous decrees. He continues to take this Life deeper and deeper. Only One gets the Glory!

WATCH FOR HIM TO COME IN A MIRACULOUS WAY THAT IS UNEXPLAINABLE YET UNDENIABLE AS YOU SEEK ONLY HIM...NOT HIS GIFTS, NOT HIS BLESSINGS, NOT HIS FAVORS...ONLY HIM.

  2. Gail McConnell: The Lord says to Jerusalem in Isaiah 62: 6 "I have set WATCHMEN upon your wall, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night; you who (are His servants and by your prayers) put the Lord in remembrance (of His promises), keep not silence. And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth."

God commands me to be a watchman (who prays and bears witness by my voice of God's great love and His power). He not only commands me to watch my own thoughts which become either words of death of life to my own soul and to the souls of others..He also commands me to be alert to the words of others. He not only commands me to watch my own actions which either become destructive or healthy habits which define a character that reflects Christ or a character that reflects self-will and self-absorption...He also commands me to be alert to the actions/character of others. As I watch my own character and watch the character of others, that character defines my person as a follower of Christ or a follower of the liar satan whose deceptions has formed my self of flesh.

Who will deliver me from this character of self if I am part of the self and cannot deliver myself? Jesus Christ! I am poor in spirit without Him. I need Him to rescue me and make me whole. He comes and He does in me that which I could never ever do in my own self. TODAY I AM VICTORIOUS IN CHRIST JESUS AS I CLING TO, RELY ON, DEPEND ON, AND TRUST HIM AS MY PERSONAL SAVIOR AND AS LORD OF MY LIFE.

As it was promised by God in the Word, which is God, which is Spirit and Truth, which is the will of God, so it is with my life today

"Do not say, I will repay evil; wait (expectantly) for the lord, and He will rescue you." Proverbs 20: 22

"To Him Who (earnestly) remembered us in our low estate and imprinted us (on His heart), for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever; And rescued us from our enemies, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever." Psalm 136:23-24

"Accordingly, say to the Israelites; I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will free you from their bondage, and I will rescue you with an outstretched arm (with special and rigorous action) and by mighty acts of judgment." Exodus 6: 6

God did not say "maybe I will rescue you"...He said "I WILL". I trusted Him and He has rescued me. I trust that He will continue to rescue me from any enemies that pursue my LIFE IN CHRIST...the enemies who tempt my mind to think the old way...and the enemies around me through people and circumstances. In Christ, I will stand. I will be an intentional watchman on the wall for my soul and for the souls of others. I will in Christ be as wise as a serpent, yet as gentle as a dove. I will discern the schemes of the enemy and fight with the full armor of God in place. And after I have done everything commanded of me, I will stand, be still, and watch God Almighty work on my behalf.
